Here at Puzzle Piece Pastries, we’re thrilled to highlight our amazing staff members one by one! This month, we’re celebrating the wonderfully talented Kayla!

Kayla’s Journey at Puzzle Piece Pastries

Kayla has been with the bakery for almost 2 years now. When she interviewed, she told us, “I’m not sure what all I can do, but I’m willing to try anything and will give it my best shot!”

At the time, we didn’t have a paid position available, but Kayla was eager for experience and joined our Volunteer Program. She worked as a volunteer for almost a year before earning a paid position!

Kayla’s Contributions

Since joining our team, Kayla has made significant strides. She’s mastered several different positions, including:

• Cleaning
• Customer service
• Prep work
• Packing orders (her favorite!)

She can even make beverages for customers, including hot coffee! Kayla recognizes the weight of the cup as it fills, allowing her to stop at the perfect moment to

avoid spills or burns!

Kayla primarily packs pastry and dessert orders for our customers. A doorbell signals her when a customer enters, and she greets everyone with a warm hello and a smile.

Customers order their pastries, and Kayla independently packs the orders. She has memorized the case layout and the texture of each pastry!

With dozens of choices in the case, her dedication to knowing each and every one is truly incredible!

An Inclusive Team

Our team is incredibly inclusive of Kayla, always working to accommodate her needs.  The team ensures the pastry case is set up the same way daily to avoid any confusion. Tea, coffee, and other beverages are always in the same place, allowing her to fulfill orders without assistance. We even have a special hook near the front counter for her White Cane!

Kayla’s Growth

Kayla has grown so much since starting with us! She now organizes her own transportation to and from work. Kayla has also appeared in two talent shows showcasing her wonderful singing voice! She has participated in our events such as Mule Camp and Christmas on Green Street, and she’s even sang at our Karaoke Night at the bakery!

A Key Piece of Our Puzzle

Kayla is a key piece of our puzzle, and we wouldn’t be the same without her!
